🙅🏻‍♀️ Do nothing... or do the thing?
“You’re not a procrastinator. You have a habit of procrastinating.” — Mel Robbins
The internet makes procrastination feel productive.
You think you’re “getting things done”...
But really, you’re deep in digital “busywork”:
✅ Checking Slack “just in case”
✅ Sorting tabs like you’re solving a crisis
âś… Watching videos about productivity instead of being productive
It feels like motion, but it’s not progress.
It’s a trap. And I keep falling for it!
One rule has really helped:
Do the task. Or do nothing.
đźš« No emails.
🚫 No inbox “maintenance.”
đźš« No cleaning my desk for the third time.
Just the task. Or silence.

Why It Works
It’s a strategy I first read about on Colby Kultgen’s newsletter “1% Better” → which I highly recommend.
And honestly? It’s brilliantly brutal.
Because…
You’re not always lazy. You’re just a professional escaper.
Like when you’re “too busy” to start that report...
but somehow find the time to organize your closet đź« đź« đź«
This method removes the middle ground.
The fake-work zone where procrastination hides.
And it’s a win-win.
You either get something important done...
or you do absolutely nothing, which most of us could use more of.
Silence. Stillness. No inputs.
It’s not wasted time—it’s actually a welcomed reset.
You’re Not a Procrastinator
You just have a habit of procrastinating.
That line’s straight from Mel Robbins, and it shifts everything.
🎯 If it’s a habit, that means it can be broken.
And this method? It’s one of the simplest ways to start breaking that habit.
But, before you begin, get clear on what needs to be done. Break it down.
Instead of “Finish the project,” try: “write the first paragraph” or “open the file and outline three bullets.”
Small, specific tasks are less intimidating, and easier to start.
Try This Today
What’s your one thing? The one that’s been looming all month?
Break it down. Set a 5-minute timer.
Then do either:
âś… That one thing
or
đźš« Absolutely nothing
I’m sure you’ll go far 🚀🚀🚀
Try it. Hit reply. I read every message, and I’d love to hear how it went.
See you next week,
